Reply I have this question too I have this question too Me too Me too. Helpful answers Drop Down menu. Aug 5, AM in response to jayrope In response to jayrope Could you explain midi tapping and midi remote transport functionality in brief? Put Logic in manual sync, and open the tempo interpreter window. View answer in context. That’s audio, any way you slice it. If Logic is hosting sound-generating plugins, it’s doing audio.

On the flip side, if you were using Logic solely as a sequencer for external MIDI gear, and you shut off CoreAudio in Logic, only then would you truly not be doing audio in Logic. I can only guess as to why they decided not to implement that. If the tap works, then external tempo control is also back.

Tap only sets Logic’s tempo, but it doesn’t clock Logic. After you tap in the requisite number of taps, Logic free-runs at the new tempo under its own internal clock. So no, external tempo control is not back. It’s just not there at all. Even if you could and you can get Logic to respond to external tap tempo events give it 4 up front and let it roll , it’s going to re-interpret the tempo each time it gets those four ‘taps’.

So there’s no guarantee that the tempo will be the same each time. The only way to get this to work is to figure out how you can send MTC from one of your other devices and synchronize Logic that way. Otherwise I hate to say it, but it’s true you’re SOL. There are certain sounds that typically accompany specific styles of music. If we think of classic rock as an example — we know organ and mellotron are popular. Dividing up your preset list can save you time when you need to find some of the usual suspects.

Someday, all plugins will have a preset search option like Omnisphere. Plugin developers: Please make this happen soon! Create a subfolder for the MTron and call it Classic Rock. This is expanding on 3 a bit. Logic gives you the ability to save an entire channel strip or track stack to the Library. Think of the specialty sounds you create. Or are working in a new genre, and are unfamiliar with the beats per minute of that genre?

The correlation meter will show you your stereo balance. Values below 0 mean that phase cancellation may be occurring. This can lead to apparent drops in volume as one channel offsets the other channel.

This is your standard level meter of left and right channels measured in decibels. You can slide that to set a level, and anything above it will display in yellow.

The 3 columns are M momentary, S short-term and I integrated. Just like the Level Meter, there is a target slider. Anything over the target is shown in yellow.
