As for the game itself, it’s fun leveling up, but you need to buy the season pass to reach max level.

If you buy it in the Defiance store it’s like 40 or so dollars I think. I’d recommend this game over Destiny any day of the week the only other competition , and there are a lot of fun, casual aspects to this game that make it appealing to anyone that only wants to play an hour or two a day. Not that there isn’t grinding in this game, it’s just not necessary to get good gear. This game is based on RNG, knowledge of the rules, and skill – in that order.

And that’s where the game kind of sucks after a couple of months – the RNG is terrible. Unless you buy RNG loot chests from the store for real world money which contains BIS weapons, shields, etc , you have to settle for repetitively grinding holiday events which come around many times in a year in order to get BIS weapons.

But to get decent rigs and chips, simply doing Expeditions a couples of times a week is fine enough You could, of course, buy BIS items from other players in this game. Which all in all, is a pain in the ass – just to get a slightly better version of a weapon you already have 5 of. And that’s the issue, there’s not enough to do in this game once you reach level cap, and grinding Expeditions for such paltry rewards is a boring waste of time, and grinding laggy events when they’re around for the tiny chance at getting a weapon that is slightly better than your current one is also a waste of time.

Unfortunately, other people feel the same way as I do so the player base is quite small. The game is just okay but if are watching the Defiance show on SyFy, it makes it better to me. Playing alongside the TV characters on occasion and dealing with some of the same things as the TV show make it kind of a novelty. If the developers are smart, they will create more content that crosses over from TV show to game. That is where this can really shine and be different from every other game out there.

I might have rated it a star more except for this: [ It really ticked me off, especially since I’m a soloer by nature and I have been playing since the game began.

Even so, I missed that particular part of the content. I was kind of surprised they would do something like this and I find it sort of “soloer unfriendly. There was no reason to do this, especially after players started complaining about it.

Unfortunately, even with installing from the disc which placed the files in the most odd places on the hard drive , when we started the update process it ended up using 15 to 16 gb! It pretty much downloaded the entire game even with the disc. So, if you want to play this game, I’d recommend to just download from the website or steam instead. It was a waist of money to buy the disc. Now as far as the game itself, from what little I’ve seen him play it’s rather just a shooter like Borderlands which I like a whole lot better and not much in the way of a typical MMO.
