To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. I just want to know the current status of the iWorks 09 Trial software. I am about to upgrade to Mavericks. I also want to install iWorks 09 as well, but it too is unavailable from the App Store. Online I was able to get the iWorks 09 Trial from Softpedia. After installing the trial, I choose to purchase the software but the link goes nowhere. I was able to secure the Serial Number again from a third part supplier which works perfectly, but wanting to be honest, I uninstalled the iWorks 09 Trial.

At this point is the iWorks 09 Trial free software and can I legally use this serial number to install the legal version, very confusing. Being able to use iWorks is, in no way essential or even desirable because I use the Free Open Office for Mac, just thought I might want to experiment with it.

They have been known load all kind of junk on to those USB keys in addition what they tell you about. Aug 29, PM. I checked the USB key of Mavericks with my antivirus software, no problems.

What I want is an answer to my iWorks 09 Trial question. I was not talking about virus when I said had all kinds of junk on it. I was talking about adware, spyware, keyloggers and other malware that AV software doesn’t recognize. Besides that I strong suggest you uninstall the AV software from your Mac. It cause far more harm then good on a Mac. Considering Apple is giving away the subsequent versions of the iWork Apps, it is no longer an income source. If it was, maybe they’d try harder.

Just to wrap this up, I have taken in all your opinions, suggestions, I think Peter that your assessment that iWorks 09 Trial is now abandonware makes the most sense, so if I want to continue playing with iWorks 09 Trial, I will just use the serial number I got to register it, although, as I was saying, Open Office is much preferable.

About Softpedia, I never have a problem with their software, that’s how I update much of my Mac software. I have no other Apple devices so Mavericks is as far as I want to go, will run best on my early iMac.

But I would have thought that someone of such prodigious intelligence would already have figured that out. I’ll just say how odd it all is. Not the way I’d have gone about it. Any of it.
