There are several options to convert color or grayscale to black and white. Usually the “convert color” option works best, even for grayscale, but “black border cleaning” usually works too and guarantees cleaner borders.

In theory you can adjust the “white point” and “black point” used to convert to black and white, but usually the defaults work best. Double-check the size of the new PDF – it should be much smaller, but occasionally Paperport has a hiccup and you need to start fresh or use a different option.

After processing, move the converted PDF elsewhere. Then delete everything in the folder including the little “junk” files, so that the folder is empty before processing the next item. Otherwise Paperport may process your new item based on rules it set up for the prior item. After doing a heavy processing task, before starting the next task close Paperport entirely and reopen.

This refreshes the software’s workspace. As mentioned above, it is critical to delete the junk files in the temporary folder before reopening Paperport.

The software is very slow on large PDFs, and if you try to hurry it, it will lock up. Note: when the screen seems locked and you see “Not Responding”, don’t quit. Just leave it awhile and it will finish what it is doing. As an example, a 70MB item might take 15 minutes to process. I recently processed a page PDF containing a large number of crooked pages. This software did a wonderful job of automatically straightening all the crooked pages. I use this software since the early ‘s and was very happy since it was able to help me going paperless with my financial documents bills, taxes, I have 2 license for the latest version 14 , and those are my major critics: – Re-installation complicated: one of my PC crashed, and I had to reinstall, but the registration constantly tells me the software is already registered.

More Like a Downgrade. This was an upgrade from a previous Paper Port. The earlier one was all-star great; this upgrade was actually a downgrade as far as I could tell. Report abuse. Will not work worth a damn with windows 10 and Nuance does not provide an upgrade so I had to delete it from my computer. Sorry I bought it. Do not buy Keeps track of any paperwork that you have and then easily locates it if you do not remember where you put it with keywords that you input.

I would recommend this. IThe product arrived on the day stated, and is exactly what I wanted. It loaded easily onto computer, and I was able to immedialetly access my PaperPort files from an earlier version.

PaperPort appears to be running in XP compatibility mode which will result in errors. We recommend disabling Compatibility Mode for the Paperport. When I closed out this box the program would exit. I checked the Compatibility Mode and nothing was checked. I even tried checking Windows 8 compatibility mode, etc and none of them changed the message I received. Is this because of a windows update that cannot be uninstalled? I even tried uninstalling the windows updates since Dec 30 that could be uninstalled.
